Yellow Mutation Green-cheeked Amazon
In a wild flock of escaped Green-cheeked or Red-headed Amazons (Amazona viridigenalis), in the area of Palm Beach Florida, a yellow mutation appeared. Before they were protected by the owners of the property where they nest, Voren acquired several eggs from the nesting cavities. The results from breeding the birds that hatched from these eggs was the first captive production of a yellow mutation in this Amazon. As in the previously pictured yellow Red-lored Amazons, these birds as well, vary in the purity their yellow coloration. It is also believed that they are forms of a cinnamon yellow mutation.

These are a pair of siblings that resulted from the breeding of two normally colored adults. The mutation offspring shown is a female. This as well as the yellow mutation of the Red-lored, has proved to be a sex linked trait.
