A pair of Black-capped conures (Pyrrhura rupicola) that were in the possession of a Miami aviary produced an interesting color mutation that is so rare that it has never been described or given a specific name. Voren believes that this is the same mutant color factor that is responsible for the Yellow-sided conure. The Yellow-sided conure has been proven to be a color mutation of the Green-cheeked conure (Pyrrhura molinae). After acquiring the mutation Black-capped offspring, Voren perpetuated and enhanced the color strain and has established the pictured bird. This color mutation bears the name, Voren Strain Mutation Black-caps.![]() ![]() Photo Index |
